Joshua and Stranger Danger’s release is imminent
Last week I was able to hold a hard copy of the soft cover and hard cover versions of Joshua and Stranger Danger. It was a very humbling experience, but spine tingling as well, to hold such a beautifully designed and illustrated book. It is equal to anything I have seen in the best bookshops, with my name along with Laila Svvolainen’s on the front cover!
These books were the first two especially printed for a final proof read before they go into print and are released. This is standard procedure for all books prior to publishing. I had proof read the manuscript many times, and so had a number of friends and Beta Readers. The interior designers and source file developers had seen, read and handled the manuscript a number of times also.
A typo error almost slipped in – unobserved
Thankfully, my son-in-law who had not yet read the manuscript was reading the book and was the only person who actually noticed the word ‘police officer’, which had been used five times in the story, had a missing ‘r’ on the end of the fourth one used.
I guess it proved the point that our brain does not read every word that is written. After seeing the word a number of times it assumes it is spelt correctly. I am grateful it was picked up at this stage and not after it had been authorised for publication.
The mistake caused extra expense, but did bring an added bonus. I was able to add a dedication to my grandsons Callum and Alec, without whom the stories would not have been written. I also took the opportunity to thank Julie-Ann Harper of Pickawoowoo Publishing and her amazing team, without whom the book would not have been published.
Release Date will be 1st July
Yesterday I received notification from Ingram Spark the new source file was ready for an electronic review prior to its release.
This is wonderful news, however for some reason my satellite internet cannot cope with the size of the file and numerous attempts to download it failed. I will now have to wait until I return to work in my Bowen Therapy Clinic on Monday to see if the Optus dongle, which runs my internet at work, can cope with the file.
Once this hurdle is overcome and the authorisation given, Joshua and Stranger Danger will be available to 39,000 outlets via the Ingram Spark cataloguing system. Thorpe Bowker the company who sells and authorises the ISBN numbers allocated to each published book, will also include the book in its publications going to all the book sellers and libraries.
30th May is the last day of the special offer
The pre-publication offer of AUD$7.99 for the soft cover and AUD$17.99 for the hard cover versions will end on the 30th June, prior to the release date on the 1st July. After publication the soft cover version will sell for AUD$14.99 and the hard cover version will sell for AUD$23.99 and an eBook version will sell for $3.99.
