The second book in the Spiritual Heritage for Children Series, Giorgie’s Christmas Dinner which looks at the web of life, is close to publication and will be available for sale prior to Christmas. I acknowledge with gratitude the RADF grant which made this possible.
The story continues…
After the biggest fright of her life Giorgie sat in the safety of a nearby tree. Looking down she could see the big spurs on the rooster and remembered the conversation between her Dad and Uncle Jack she’d overheard last night. Daddy was saying this rooster was going to be Christmas dinner because he was aggressive.
Like many children, she was feeling confused about having to eat something that lived. She was scared, but sad for Mr. Rooster as she secretly called him. Her angel Astara arrives to tell her about the web of life and how every bird and animal will eventually give its life so another can live.
Astara explains the web of life
Astara tells Giorgie how the tree protects the birds from foxes, eagles and hawks. and how in turn the birds eat many of the grubs and insects that would harm the tree, if there were too many of them. Astara also explained how the trees take in our breath and breathe out clean air for us to breathe.
She also explained how the birds and bees helped her, by pollinating the fruit and veggies in her garden, and in return they received nectar and pollen for their food.
Astara told Giorgie when she watered the garden, she was actually helping the birds and bees!
Astara shows Giorgie how we are all connected
Astara shows Giorgie in a practical way how every living thing is connected through the energy waves of the air around us.
She asked her to remember the spider’s web she had seen last winter with the frost on it – making it look as if it was covered in diamonds that sparkled.
Giorgie was asked to stand on a diamond and picture everyone and every animal she could think of standing on all the other diamonds. Astara asked her to imagine what would happen when she jumped up and down on her diamond!
