A potentially dangerous situation confronts Joshua in the second illustration of Joshua and Stranger Danger.
Joshua walked with Aden and his mum to the small gate on the side street where Aden’s mum had parked her car. Aden leaned out the window calling, “Bye Josh!’ as his mum slowly drove the car from the kerb. Without thinking, Joshua ran out onto the footpath to wave his goodbye.
As Joshua turned to move back inside the school grounds he heard a voice calling to him, “Josh, just a moment, I have something important to tell you.” Joshua turned to see a policeman waving to him; catching his attention. “Josh,” he said, as Joshua hesitated, ” your mother’s had an accident and I have come to take you to her, at the hospital.”
Instantly a familiar image was between Joshua and the policeman, visible only to Joshua. It was Tav, his spirit guide. Tav is a familiar figure in Joshua’s life, and has been for as long as he can remember. At first, he was Joshua’s playmate during times when he was sad; feeling lost and lonely. Over the years, the relationship has grown and developed and Joshua now knows Tav as his spirit guide.
“Quickly,” Tav said, hurry into the schoolyard and look back to see what the man is doing.” As he looked back, Tav was no longer visible and the policeman was hurrying into a large van; looking around as he did so. Tav’s voice said inside his head, “That’s not a police car, and that’s not a policeman. Remember what the van looks like and remember the number plate ‘742-FCH.’ Hurry now and tell your teacher what has happened.” Joshua runs very quickly to his teacher, trying hard to remember the number plate and what the van looked like.
Laila has depicted Tav as an energy field, rather than a human like figure. It acknowledges that we all have an energy field surrounding us, and this energy field is felt in various ways, by each individual. We have all heard the sayings – ‘good vibes’ and ‘bad vibes.” These vibes are the vibration of the energy field surrounding each and everyone of us. The field consist of energy waves, vibrating at various frequencies depending on the wave length of the field; which in turn is influenced by the thoughts we are thinking and the emotions we are feeling at the time.
The story continues with Joshua suddenly realising how the potentially dangerous situation has been averted.
He has a big knot in his stomach, his skin feels creepy crawly and his mouth is dry.
